Construction equipment financing can help spread the cost of a machine over time while preserving cash for labor, materials and ongoing jobs. Start by comparing the total cost of buying, financing, leasing or renting the equipment against the work it will support.
G-Force Funding is a lending marketplace serving businesses in the United States and Canada. We help you explore options through participating providers; we are not a direct lender. Availability, approval, costs and terms depend on your business, location, equipment and provider.
Discuss Your Construction Equipment Purchase
Planning a Heavy Equipment Purchase
Whether you are considering an excavator, skid steer, wheel loader, bulldozer, backhoe or compactor, prepare the details of the specific machine before requesting financing. These are examples of equipment to discuss, not a guarantee that every asset or seller qualifies.
- Job fit: Explain the projects the machine will support, expected utilization and whether it replaces rental costs or adds capacity.
- Full project cost: Include attachments, transportation, inspection, setup, insurance and any repairs in the budget.
- Timing: Identify the seller’s deadline, delivery schedule and when the machine will begin generating revenue.
- Operating costs: Allow for fuel, maintenance, storage, operators and downtime alongside the financing payment.
New vs. Used Construction Equipment Financing
New equipment and used equipment present different purchase considerations. With a new machine, confirm the warranty, delivery date and configuration. With a used machine, request the year, serial number, operating hours, maintenance records, photographs and an independent inspection where appropriate.
Ask the provider whether it can consider the machine’s age, condition and remaining useful life. Dealer, private-party and auction purchases may have different documentation and payment requirements. Confirm financing conditions before placing a nonrefundable deposit or bidding at auction.
Construction Equipment Financing Requirements
A provider may review business history, credit, revenue, bank statements, existing debt and the equipment’s value. Requirements vary; there is no universal minimum credit score, down payment or revenue threshold across our marketplace.
Prepare a supplier quote, business and ownership details, recent financial records requested by the provider, a debt schedule and your planned cash contribution. For contractors, current projects and the timing of customer payments can help explain seasonal cash flow. Use our business financing document checklist to organize the request.
Compare a Loan, Lease or Rental
- Equipment loan: Review the amount financed, interest and fees, security interest, personal guarantee, payment schedule and early repayment conditions.
- Equipment lease: Check ownership, total payments, maintenance obligations, return conditions and any end-of-term purchase or residual payment.
- Rental: For short or uncertain jobs, compare rental charges, delivery costs and availability against the full cost of owning the machine.
Our equipment financing guide includes a loan-versus-lease comparison and an illustrative monthly-payment calculation.
Example: Budget Beyond the Machine Price
A contractor evaluating a $90,000 used machine might budget another $5,000 for transport and inspection and $5,000 for initial repairs and attachments. That creates a $100,000 project before taxes, insurance and financing charges. If $80,000 in usable financing proceeds were available, the business would need $20,000 of its own cash.
This is a hypothetical planning example, not a customer result, financing offer or required down payment. A provider may exclude some expenses. Test the proposed payment against a slower month and a delayed customer payment, not only a fully booked schedule.
Common Questions
Can a new construction business apply?
Discuss your business history, owner experience, equipment and cash contribution with our team. Provider availability for newer businesses varies, and an inquiry does not guarantee financing.
Can I finance equipment bought at auction?
Ask before bidding. Confirm whether the provider accepts the seller, what ownership or inspection records it needs, and whether its funding process can meet the auction’s payment deadline.
Are the same options available in the U.S. and Canada?
No single program applies everywhere. Tell us the business location, equipment location and purchase currency, including any cross-border movement, so availability can be discussed accurately.
